Henry Fuchs, PhD, Co-Founder. Dr. Fuchs is a world-renowned pioneer in the field of medical Augmented Reality (AR), and his fundamental contributions to the field of computer graphics have earned him membership in the National Academy of Engineering and the American Academy of Arts & Sciences. He is the Federico Gil Professor of Computer Science at UNC-Chapel Hill, and is an Adjunct Professor in the Departments of Biomedical Engineering and Radiation Oncology. He led the research that resulted in UNC's Ultrasound-Guided Augmented-Reality Breast Biopsy System and the 3D Laparoscope, and is currently funded by the NIH to develop a similar AR guidance system for radiofrequency ablation of liver tumors. Dr. Fuchs is co-inventor on the 3D Laparoscope patents.

Medical Advisory Board

Jeremy Ackerman, PhD, MD. Dr. Ackerman is the assistant professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Emory University. He is an expert in the area of medical Augmented Reality and is a co-inventor on the 3D Laparoscope patents. He received his MD and PhD degrees from UNC, where his dissertation topic was the 3D Laparoscope.

David Iannitti, MD, FACS, Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Iannitti is a pioneer in the field of microwave ablation treatment of liver cancer. He is Chief of Hepatopancreatobilliary Surgery at the Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC. David is working to establish the Center as a leader in the field of liver, pancreatic and bile duct cancer treatment. He has produced many publications in prestigious journals and plays an active role in several professional societies, including the American Hepato Pancreato Biliary Association and the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons. A Fellow in the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Iannitti attended medical school at Brown University, where he also completed his surgical residency, and he additionally completed a fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Hepatobiliary and Transplant Surgery.

Paul Lin, MD. Dr. Lin is a Partner and Medical Director of the Seattle Reproductive Medicine clinic, and Director of its associated surgical center. Dr. Lin has made key advancements to the field of fertility preservation and enhancement, including the first study that combined the use of laparoscopic ultrasound with laparoscopy for myomectomy. He is a Fellow in the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, as well as a member of the American Association of Gynecological Laparoscopists, the American Society of Reproductive Medicine, the Society of Reproductive Surgeons, and a number of other esteemed professional organizations. He has served as an editor of a number of journals, including the American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology, Human Reproduction, and Obstetrics & Gynecology.

John Martinie, MD, FACS. Dr. Martinie performs curring-edge research in radiofrequency ablation of liver cancer and is a Hepato Pancreatobilliary surgeon at the Carolina Medical Center in Charlotte, NC. He has held academic appointments at several research hospitals, including UNC-Chapel Hill (where he served as the Co-Director for the Center for Pancreatobiliary Disease), Brown University, McGill University, and the University of New Mexico. He has published and presented many studies related to hepatic and colorectal disease, and has received both civilian and military honors for his work in GI surgery; a member of the Air Force reserves for nine years, Dr. Martinie has received several Meritorious Ribbons from the Air Force and Armed Services, for each of teaching, medical and expeditionary services.

Anthony A. Meyer, MD, PhD. Dr. Meyer has led an esteemed career in academic medicine, and currently serves as the Chairman of the Department of Surgery at UNC Hospitals. His surgical career has focused on trauma procedures, and specifically on the treatment of burn victims; he has contributed well over 200 publications and presentations to professional journals and conferences. Dr. Meyer belongs to over 30 professional societies, including the Halsted Society and the American Society of Surgeons, and he has performed editorial duties for numerous journals, including Surgery, Archives of Surgery, and Annals of Surgery. He earned MD and PhD (Pathology) degrees from the University of Chicago.

Allan Siperstein, MD. Dr. Siperstein is Director of Endocrine Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, and is one of the leading researchers in laparoscopic radiofrequency ablation of liver tumors. His research has focused on minimally-invasive techniques as well as intraoperative and laparoscopic sonography. He has published extensively in the areas of endocrine, hepatic and thyroid & parathyroid cancer management, and he is a member of many surgical professional societies, including the American Surgical Association, the American Association of Endocrine Surgeons, and SAGES. He earned his MD degree at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School at Dallas, and he completed his general surgical residency and endocrine surgical training at the University of California at San Francisco.
